Unfold BEHOLD! The Dinosaurs and you’re not just opening a book—you’re unspooling 13 feet of pure prehistoric spectacle. Created by cartoonist and illustrator Dustin Harbin for the legendary UK indie publisher Nobrow Press, this stunning concertina (leporello) is a love letter to the creatures that ruled the Earth for 165 million years.

Over 100 dinosaurs march across both sides of this 6.5-foot-per-side fold-out, each one drawn to scale on its own individual sheet of paper. Harbin approached the project with an almost scientific rigor: Triceratops (his favorite dinosaur, and clearly the correct choice) became his size standard on 8.5” x 11” bristol, while the immense Spinosaurus and Brachiosaurus required sprawling 11” x 17” pages. At the opposite end, tiny Velociraptor and Psittacosaurus squeezed onto 5” x 7” paper, with the biggest sauropods curling their tails to fit the frame. Every rendering was cross-referenced for period accuracy, body proportions, and geographic location—details noted in elegant infographic boxes beside each dinosaur.

The result is equal parts art object and educational treasure. Each side of the leporello traces a distinct thread through the fossil record, from the first species to appear to the last, from the tallest to the smallest, fastest, and sleepiest. The original impetus was a dinosaur print that Harbin made, colored by Sam Bosma and Kali Ciesemier, which Nobrow co-publisher Alex Spiro saw and immediately recognized as perfect for their acclaimed leporello format. What emerged is a book that works as a wall display, a tabletop reference, or a gift that will captivate dinosaur lovers aged 6 to 106.

Praised by Inkygoodness as “a stunningly intricate spectacle” and by ComicsAlliance as “a magnificent beast,” BEHOLD! The Dinosaurs! remains one of Nobrow’s most enduring titles. It also earned a Spanish-language edition (¡Llegan los dinosaurios!) from Barbara Fiore Editora.

Perfect for fans of paleo-art, infographic design, and anyone who never quite got over their childhood dinosaur phase.
