Technopolis is the sad, beautiful sci-fi drama from Kraig Rasmussen — a story about a tormented young boy who wrestles with the world around him while searching for his lost sister in a sprawling, dark “utopian” city. It’s a gleaming, melancholy future where the architecture towers and the heart aches.

Originally developed under the title Rocketboy, Technopolis exists so far as a 20-page black-and-white Preview Edition — a hand-inked sampler of a much larger vision. Rasmussen’s pen-and-ink pages lean into the contradictions at the heart of the premise: a city built to be perfect, rendered in dense cross-hatching that makes every shadow feel alive; a lone boy with a jetpack cutting through it all on a quest that is equal parts adventure and elegy. The result is Blade Runner by way of classic adventure cartooning — Moebius’s linework, Corben’s weight, and a story engine all Rasmussen’s own.

He discussed the project and his broader Monkeygong catalog in a wide-ranging interview with Two Geeks Talking, alongside his other works Furthest Reaches, Epoch, and Odds & Ends. Like much of his output, the continuing Technopolis story unfolds through the Monkeygong Comics Club, where members get access to serialized pages, print perks, and premium content.

Perfect for fans of atmospheric sci-fi, lonely-hero journeys, and creators who ink every brick by hand. Pick up the Technopolis Preview Edition at the Monkeygong shop, and follow the full story through the Monkeygong Comics Club.
