XDragoon

Two alien dragons stow away to Earth to stop an interstellar invasion in XDragoon, the Brazilian sci-fi webcomic saga by Felipe Marcantonio—free to read on Tapas since 2008.

📖 self-published (print: Editora Crás) • Started 2008

Two young dragons from the planet Gan-Mah slip aboard an enemy spaceship with one desperate goal: convince Emperor Krad to call off his invasion of Earth. Instead, Rocky and Alfred end up stranded in the middle of it—aliens hiding among humans, hunted by their own kind, and forced to pick a side in a war light-years from home. This is XDragoon, the Brazilian sci-fi webcomic that has been running almost continuously since August 2008.

Written and drawn by Felipe Marcantonio—the artist also known as Yuski—the series blends shonen-style battles and space-opera politics with a distinctly manga-inflected art style rendered entirely in vivid full color. What began as Marcantonio’s college animation project became one of Brazil’s longest-running indie webcomics when the TV pitch transformed into a comic instead. The original English serialization ran from August 1, 2008 to November 2016, spawning the music-themed spin-off XDragoon: Rockstar (2013–2016) along the way.

The dragons didn’t stay grounded for long. In 2018, Marcantonio brought Rocky and Alfred to life as an animated webseries—closing the circle on the franchise’s original dream—and Brazilian publisher Editora Crás launched a ground-up reboot of the first adventure as XDragoon: Viagem sem Volta (2022), released in English on Kindle as XDragoon: One Way Journey. The saga’s latest chapter, XDragoon: Magma Crystal, is a seven-chapter reboot of the second adventure that serialized weekly on Tapas from August 2023 through its conclusion.
