Jason Copland
A Vancouver-based comic book writer and artist who has worked for Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, and Boom! Studios, currently creating his epic crime-sci-fi graphic novel Full Tilt.
Jason Copland draws like he’s channeling signals from a rain-soaked neon city that only exists in his head—and the results are impossible to look away from. A Vancouver native, he’s built a career on the sheer power of his atmospheric, noir-drenched artwork, leaving his mark with virtually every major publisher in the industry.
At Marvel, Copland brought his brooding, shadow-heavy style to Daredevil and What If? Infinity - Guardians of the Galaxy, proving he could hold his own alongside the best in the business. At Dark Horse, he contributed to Kill All Monsters!—a giant-monster-mecha epic by writer Michael May—and illustrated stories for Trickster, the celebrated anthology of Native American trickster tales. He also tackled Judge Dredd for IDW, etching his name into the legacy of the legendary 2000 AD character.
But Copland’s magnum opus is Full Tilt, a 308-page black-and-white graphic novel he wrote and drew over five punishing years. Set in a dystopian 23rd-century New Manhattan, it follows Massimo Miller—a former crime family consigliere—on a blood-soaked quest for revenge after a massacre tears through the city’s syndicate bosses. AIPT called it “a blood-soaked love letter to cyberpunk, The Godfather, and decency in an increasingly indecent world.” The book was crowdfunded through Zoop, proving that readers are hungry for Copland’s singular vision.
When he’s not drawing, Copland shares his creative process through his Substack newsletter. His contribution to the All We Ever Wanted anthology brings his dark, evocative style to an unexpected context—hope—and the contrast is electric.
Perfect for fans of Frank Miller’s Sin City and Ronin, or anyone who believes the best comics are the ones that feel like they’ve been drawn in lightning and shadow.
