Robert J. Sodaro
Veteran comic journalist & indie creator since 1981
Robert J. “Bob” Sodaro’s journey through the comics industry reads like a love letter to the medium itself. After breaking into publishing in 1981 with an article about Steve Ditko’s Spider-Man run in Amazing Heroes, Sodaro went on to contribute his distinctive voice to virtually every major comic book industry publication—the Comics Journal, Wizard, Comics Buyers’ Guide, Hero Illustrated, and countless others—while simultaneously crafting marketing copy for Marvel, DC, Image, and Dark Horse.
But Sodaro isn’t just a chronicler of comics; he’s a creator. His intellectual properties include the espionage series Agent Unknown, the werewolf horror saga Wülf Girlz (now collected by Dark Fire Press), the post-apocalyptic adventure Girl Skout Wars, and the action-comedy Hot Girl & Totally Hot Girl. He also writes Cyberines and Owl Girls for Red Anvil Comics, proving his range spans genres from sci-fi thriller to supernatural horror.
A true Renaissance creator, Sodaro has authored nonfiction books including Kiddie Meal Collectibles and Trivia Mania: Commercials and Ads, contributed to the official Marvel Universe Index series, and co-wrote entries in Stan Lee’s How to Draw Superheroes and Master Class. His prose fiction appears regularly in anthologies from Writers Unite and Weird Fiction Quarterly.
When he’s not writing, Sodaro serves as a production editor for Buffalo Avenue Books and does graphic production work for various indie publishers. He lives in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut, with his family, surrounded by cats and dogs, and maintains an active presence across social media platforms where he shares his passion for comics, film, and storytelling.
Their work includes We Suck at Comics: Volume 1 - Rejection, and We Suck at Comics: Volume 2 - Coloring Outside The Lines.
