Toby Cypress is an American comic artist and writer whose visual style is as distinctive as the New Jersey boardwalks where he grew up. Skateboarding the boardwalks, exploring arcades, and devouring comic books defined his youth, and after graduating from the legendary Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Animation in 1997, he launched a career that has spanned the full spectrum of the comics industry.
His work includes drawing The Omega Men for DC Comics—specifically issues #2-4 and variant covers for the acclaimed Tom King series—as well as contributions to Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men, Image’s Killing Girl, and Dark Horse’s Predator. With writer Brian Wood, he co-created the crime comic The Tourist for Ait/PlanetLAR. His creator-owned projects include Rodd Racer, published through his Punkrock*Jazz imprint, and White Suits. Cypress also works as a storyboard artist and conceptual designer for clients including Tokyo Pop and Nike. He also contributed art to All We Ever Wanted: Stories of a Better World, the Ringo Award–nominated sci-fi anthology from A Wave Blue World. His art is defined, dynamic compositions, and a sensibility that blends retro sci-fi aesthetics with contemporary edge—making his pages feel both timeless and unmistakably modern.
