Troy Little

Troy Little is proof that a cartoonist can build a career one self-published page at a time—a Canadian animator-turned-comics renaissance man whose path runs from a Xeric-funded black-and-white graphic novel to Kevin Eastman’s Drawing Blood and a string of Eisner-nominated books. Born in 1973 on Prince Edward Island and trained at Sheridan College, Little spent years in animation before turning to comics full-time in the early 2000s. Under his Meanwhile Studios imprint he self-published Chiaroscuro, a moody, noir-tinged graphic novel that won a Xeric grant in 2001 and a Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts grant in 2005. When Cerebus creator Dave Sim praised the book on his blog, IDW’s Ted Adams took notice—and the first volume landed with IDW Publishing in 2007, a textbook example of the indie-to-major leap the Xeric Foundation exists to enable.

Little’s creator-owned heart lives in Angora Napkin, his gleefully gory, impossibly cute horror-comedy trilogy about anthropomorphic bunnies with a taste for revenge. The first volume, published by IDW in 2009, earned an Eisner nomination and was developed into an animated pilot for Teletoon; its sequel Harvest of Revenge was nominated again, and the saga continued as a long-running webcomic and the 2020 graphic novel The Golden McGuffin.

His licensed work is equally fearless. He adapted Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for Top Shelf, drew The Powerpuff Girls for IDW, and teamed with Jim Zub and Patrick Rothfuss on Rick & Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons—whose Deluxe Edition earned another Eisner nomination in 2022—before tackling Painscape and Rick & Morty vs. Cthulhu for Oni Press.

That Fear and Loathing book tour is where Little met Kevin Eastman, and the partnership changed everything: Eastman tapped him to help develop Drawing Blood and the Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls, Kickstarted in 2017. Little drew both the Ragdolls books (co-writing the second volume with David Avallone) and provides art on the twelve-issue Drawing Blood series at Image Comics, Eastman’s cracked funhouse mirror of TMNT-era fame.

Today Little runs Pegamoose Press with his wife, cartoonist Brenda Hickey, publishing their own creator-owned books—including their collaboration Butterfly House, nominated for a Doug Wright Award—and new titles like his 2026 Kickstarter graphic novella Levada.
