Chapters
Marika Brousianou's debut graphic novel—a haunting, introspective work-in-progress exploring grief, isolation, and the quiet weight of being human.
📖 self-published • Started 2020
Chapters is Marika Brousianou’s first foray into long-form graphic storytelling—a deeply personal, ongoing work that examines the quiet textures of human suffering. Rendered in her evocative ink-wash style, the comic follows its protagonist through moments of isolation, memory, and the slow process of healing. Each page reads like a visual poem, where silence and negative space carry as much weight as the lines themselves.
First conceived under the working title Eight Fifty Three, Chapters represents Brousianou’s most ambitious narrative project to date. Trained at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and the American College of Greece, she brings her background in painting and illustration to bear on every panel, creating a graphic novel that feels less like a conventional story and more like a sensory experience—one that lingers long after the page is turned.
The project remains a work-in-progress, with new pages and chapters being released as Brousianou continues to develop the narrative. You can follow its evolution on her official website, where she shares page previews and behind-the-scenes process work. She is also a contributor to Oneshi Press anthologies and active on Instagram.
Perfect for fans of introspective graphic memoirs like Persepolis, atmospheric visual storytelling in the vein of Here by Richard McGuire, and readers who appreciate the raw, unfinished beauty of a work-in-progress.
