Every family has that one relative who shows up and things just… happen.

Fraterniphobia: Give Strife a Chance is a comedic mythological short that asks the important question: what happens when the God of War takes a day off? Ares, tired of endless conflict, decides to hand the family business over to his sons Phobos and Deimos. How hard can running a war be?

The answer, as it turns out, is very hard. The brothers manage to accidentally cause peace to break out across the realm—a catastrophic outcome that literally no one requested. With chaos levels plummeting and the natural order thrown into disarray, they have only one option: call in the family wildcard.

Enter Auntie Eris, the goddess of strife herself. If anyone can restore proper chaos and get the war machine back on track, it’s the goddess whose very presence causes arguments at dinner parties. But getting Eris involved comes with its own complications—because when Eris shows up, things tend to get… complicated.

This story originally appeared in We Suck at Comics Volume 2, but stands perfectly well on its own as a bite-sized mythological comedy. The premise is brilliantly simple—give incompetent people important jobs and watch chaos ensue—but Alexander Sapountzis and Mark C. Frankel elevate it with sharp character work and genuinely funny moments.

Perfect for fans of mythological humor like Thor: Ragnarok or Percy Jackson, Fraterniphobia proves that Greek mythology lends itself perfectly to workplace comedy. After all, what are gods but cosmic coworkers with really complicated family dynamics?

You can find this story in the We Suck at Comics Volume 2 anthology, available on Global Comix or directly from Wayward Raven Media.
