Ichabod Jones isn’t your typical monster hunter. Tormented by voices only he can hear, he survives an apocalypse while battling memories of his past. The question that haunts every page: is any of this real, or is it all in his head?

Created by Russell Nohelty with stunning artwork by Renzo Podesta, Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter defies easy categorization. Is it horror? Sure. Fantasy? Absolutely. But at its core, it’s a mind-bending exploration of psychosis and survival through a landscape that might be post-apocalyptic nightmare or delusion—or both.

The Story

Ichabod is a mental patient convicted of psychopathic murder who discovers he might actually be humanity’s savior during an apocalypse. Guided by the voices in his head—literal manifestations of his fractured psyche—he and a ragtag group of survivors travel through a nearly endless desert, consorting with both angels and demons along the way.

The voices keep him alive. Mostly.

Art and Evolution

The series underwent three distinct art style changes over its decade-long publication. The first style taps into Ichabod’s warped perspective with frenetic violence and horror. The second goes softer and wispier with a demented tone. The third, which dominates most volumes, settles into something more conventional while retaining an eerie essence. Each style brings something different to this fractured narrative.

Publication History

First published by Viper Comics in 2012 before being relaunched through Wannabe Press via Kickstarter in 2014 (the project that launched the publisher), the series ran multiple volumes with the final issues arriving nearly a decade after the first.

Legacy

Winner of multiple industry awards, Ichabod Jones represents the kind of bold, boundary-pushing independent comics that Wannabe Press was founded to publish—stories for rebels, punks, and outcasts who don’t fit neatly into genre boxes.
