Justice Warriors

A brutally funny dystopian satire where mutant cops Swamp and Schitt patrol the Uninhabited Zone—learning the only way to police is to break every rule.

📖 AHOY Comics • Started 2022

Welcome to Bubble City. A gleaming dome of equality, diversity, and prosperity where crime has been eliminated. Sounds utopian, right? Too bad almost nobody actually lives there. Outside the Bubble sprawls the Uninhabited Zone—a densely packed, nightmarish slum where the mutant majority ekes out an existence while the elite float blissfully above.

This is where Justice Warriors kicks off, and it’s not your daddy’s cop comic. Co-created by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Matt Bors and visionary artist Ben Clarkson , this AHOY Comics series serves up dystopian satire so sharp it’ll draw blood. After his partner is killed by a self-driving bus, traumatized veteran Swamp Cop gets paired with naive rookie Schitt, and together they learn the only way to police the UZ is to break every rule in the book—then make up new ones.

From astrology-based gangs trying to ruin everyone’s vibes to a system where “public servants” operate with impunity, Justice Warriors takes aim at policing, inequality, and the absurdity of late-stage capitalism with the precision of a political cartoonist who’s been sharpening his knives for two decades. Bill Oakley (The Simpsons) called it “just the perfect amount of demented,” while Peter Chung (Aeon Flux) described it as “an elaborate hoax that requires only that you succumb to its power to confound, outrage and delight.”

The first six issues, collected by AHOY Comics in a 168-page volume with an exclusive backup story, have been followed by the 2024 original graphic novel Justice Warriors: Vote Harder, which deepens the electoral madness as Bubble City holds its first-ever mayoral election—pitting partners Swamp and Schitt against each other in the process. Perfect for fans of Judge Dredd, RoboCop, and anyone who’s ever wondered what would happen if political cartoons got their own comic book series.
