📖 Kayfabe Anthology • Started 2016

What happens when some of indie comics’ most talented creators share a love for professional wrestling? You get Kayfabe, a labor of passion that brings the drama, spectacle, and raw emotion of the squared circle to comic book pages.

Volume 1 launched in 2016 with over 120 pages of original stories from Mark Bertolini, C.W. Cooke, James Hornsby, Daniel Franco, and dozens of other creators—each bringing their unique voice to wrestling’s rich tapestry of heroes, villains, rivalries, and redemption.

Volume 2 continued the tradition with fresh contributors joining returning favorites, expanding the universe with stories spanning genres from comedy to drama to sci-fi—all filtered through the lens of professional wrestling.

Volume 3 marked the triumphant conclusion to the trilogy, featuring 142 pages of color and black-and-white stories from comics’ best independent talent. Marta Tanrikulu joined Micah Myers and Zakk Saam as editors, bringing the project home with a definitive statement on what wrestling comics can be.

The anthology format allows each creator to explore what drew them to wrestling in the first place. Some tell emotional stories about a wrestler’s final match, the weight of a championship, or the complicated bonds between rivals. Others lean into the spectacular—the elaborate entrances, the larger-than-life characters, the pure escapism that makes wrestling unlike any other form of entertainment.

Editor Micah Myers brings his signature lettering to the project, his clean, expressive style tying together diverse artistic approaches into a cohesive reading experience. The result is an anthology that feels both heartfelt and professionally crafted.

Whether you’re a wrestling fan curious about comics, a comics reader who’s never given wrestling a chance, or someone who loves both, Kayfabe offers something for everyone. It’s a celebration of storytelling at its most dramatic, featuring characters who bleed for their art and audiences who cheer them on.

Perfect for fans of wrestling documentary features, sports manga, and anthology series like Secret Weapons or Dark Horse Presents.
