AndWorld Design

Premier comic book lettering and design studio behind top titles from DC, Image, and BOOM! Studios

AndWorld Design is the lettering and design studio that proves the words on the page are just as important as the art surrounding them. Founded by Deron Bennett in 2003, the studio has grown from a one-person operation into a full-service lettering powerhouse, with a team that includes Justin Birch, D.C. Hopkins, Morgan Martinez, Tom Napolitano, Josh Reed, and Erika Terriquez. Together, they’ve lettered hundreds of titles across every major publisher in comics.

What makes AndWorld Design stand out is their philosophy that lettering is storytelling—not just mechanical text placement. Deron Bennett got his start inspired by Milestone Comics, realizing that comics featuring characters who looked like him could be a powerful medium for self-expression. That passion for narrative drives every project the studio touches, from DC’s Batman and Aquaman: The Becoming to Image’s King Spawn and The Scorched, BOOM! Studios’ Something Is Killing the Children and Dark Blood, Skybound’s Excellence, and Kodansha’s Fairy Tail. The studio even earned an Eisner Award nomination for their work on Tale of Sand, a collaboration with The Jim Henson Company.

Beyond lettering, AndWorld Design offers logo design, custom font creation, page layout, and graphic design—making them a true one-stop shop for comic book production. They’ve worked on everything from manga lettering in Adobe InDesign to hand-drawn sound effects in Photoshop, adapting their tools and techniques to match each artist’s unique linework and tone. Whether it’s crafting wobbly balloons for a horror scene or developing clever visual solutions for ventriloquism and ASL representation, the studio approaches every page as an opportunity to elevate the reading experience.

Perfect for fans of meticulously crafted comic book lettering, behind-the-scenes production artistry, and the unsung heroes who make comics read as beautifully as they look. Explore more of their work on Something Is Killing the Children, King Spawn, and Hello, My Name Is Poop.
