Drew Zucker

Co-creator and artist of the critically acclaimed Canto series, known for his work at IDW, Dark Horse, and Image Comics.

Drew Zucker is an American comic book artist whose work has captivated readers with its distinctive blend of intricate worldbuilding and heartfelt storytelling. Best known as the co-creator and artist of the critically acclaimed Canto series, Zucker’s artistic vision brought to life a world of clockwork knights and steampunk wonder that has resonated with readers of all ages.

A 2010 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Zucker began his career working for major publishers including Marvel, DC Comics, IDW Publishing, and Dark Horse. However, it was his creator-owned series Canto that established him as one of the most promising voices in contemporary comics. Working alongside writer David M. Booher, Zucker created a universe where tiny heroes face enormous challenges—a metaphor that has spoken to readers seeking stories about finding courage in unexpected places.

The first issue of Canto debuted in 2019 from IDW Publishing and sold out at the distribution level, rushing into a second printing—a rare achievement for a new creator-owned series. The critical response was overwhelming, with reviewers praising the series’ unique blend of steampunk aesthetics and emotional depth. The series later moved to Dark Horse Comics for hardcover collections, and in 2021, Westbrook Studios announced plans to adapt Canto as an animated feature film, recognizing its universal appeal.

Beyond Canto, Zucker has illustrated other creator-owned projects including The House (Dark Horse) and Skybreaker. His work continues to demonstrate a commitment to creating visually rich worlds that combine fantasy, horror, and emotional storytelling.

Perfect for fans of The Iron Giant, Howl’s Moving Castle, and creator-owned comics with heart.
