Jaime Jameson is the inker who coaxed comics legend Jim Starlin back to the drawing board. When a hand injury had sidelined Starlin’s art career, she nagged him for a Doctor Doom convention sketch until he finally obliged — discovering that his exercises had restored his hand and reigniting the artist behind Thanos. Starlin calls her “quite a prize,” and her inks have anchored every new Dreadstar adventure since.

Her comics journey began outside the panels: Jameson broke into the industry as a photographer and model, working on the American Gods series before training in inking and coloring alongside veteran artists. She previously inked for Keith Giffen, and her first major Starlin collaboration was the 100-page Dreadstar Returns, crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2020 and published by Ominous Press in 2021. Jameson’s working partnership with Starlin goes beyond inks. She helped redesign the crew for the modern era — badgering Starlin with reference images until they settled on a new look for telepath Willow — and the pair have kept the Dreadstar universe alive with new graphic novels, including Dreadstar vs. The Inevitable from Monkey Wrench Press.
