Kendra Wells is the kind of cartoonist who makes you laugh on one page and tear up on the next. Their breakout graphic novel Real Hero Shit — a queer medieval fantasy comedy from Iron Circus Comics — was a festival favorite, beloved for its casually queer worldbuilding and gut-busting timing. Before that, they co-wrote Tell No Tales: Pirates of the Southern Seas with Sam Maggs, a swashbuckling middle-grade adventure published by Abrams that puts an all-woman pirate crew at the center of the story.
Wells is also a regular contributor to The Nib and one of the standout voices in the Ignatz Award-winning anthology Be Gay Do Comics, making them a fixture of the indie comics scene where humor and heart collide. They studied at the School of Visual Arts and have built a devoted following through their website, Twitter, Instagram, and Patreon.
