Lisa LaRose is a Vancouver-based pop surrealist painter, illustrator, and comics artist who brings a distinctive “bizarre and colourful” aesthetic to everything she creates. Best known for her work as artist, colorist, and cover artist on Ghoster Heights, a heartwarming middle-grade graphic novel published by Vault Comics, Lisa’s work spans comics, fine art, puzzles, and merchandise.

Her artistic journey began with her signature pop surrealist paintings, which caught the attention of the comics world. Her work on Ghoster Heights—written by Corey Lansdell and Kelly Mellings—showcases her ability to blend ghostly atmosphere with genuine emotional resonance. The story follows eight-year-old Ona, who moves into her Baba’s apartment complex after a traumatic event and befriends a ghost in the boiler room. As Ona’s new friendship allows her to see other ghosts haunting the building’s residents, she decides to help her neighbors face their troubles, ultimately confronting her own trauma and grief.

Lisa has also created her own comic work, including Rise of the White Phoenix, a self-published comic about Luisa, a young girl who wants to become a Luchadora (Mexican wrestler), with secrets from both mother and daughter waiting to be discovered.

Her art has been featured at the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival, and she maintains an active presence on multiple social platforms. Lisa sells her artwork, prints, puzzles, and comics through her Etsy shop and creates commissioned pieces through Diamond Art Club.

Perfect for fans of I Kill Giants and the earnest storytelling of Judy Bloom, Lisa LaRose’s work offers readers a unique blend of supernatural elements and deeply human emotions.
