Vittorio Astone

Italian comic book colorist known for his work on Canto, Free Planet, and Maxwell's Demons.

Vittorio Astone is an Italian comic book colorist whose vibrant, atmospheric color work has brought numerous comics to life. Based in Rome, Astone has built a career working with American publishers, bringing his European sensibility to a range of genres including fantasy, science fiction, and adventure.

Astone gained significant recognition for his coloring work on Canto, the all-ages fantasy series from IDW Publishing (later Dark Horse Comics). His palette helped establish the unique visual tone of the series—combining the warmth of copper and brass tones with the ethereal quality of clockwork fairy environments. The result was a world that felt both mechanical and magical, perfectly suited to the story of a tiny clockwork knight on a grand adventure.

Beyond Canto, Astone’s coloring credits include Free Planet for Image Comics and Maxwell’s Demons for Vault Comics. His work demonstrates a versatility in approach, adapting his color sense to fit the tone and genre of each project while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

Italian colorists have become increasingly prominent in the American comics industry, and Astone represents a new generation of international talent bringing fresh perspectives to mainstream and independent titles alike.

Perfect for fans of Vault Comics’ atmospheric titles, steampunk aesthetics, and European comic artistry.
