Former child queen Elida was driven from her throne at age ten and forced to wander the galaxy, evading the revolutionary forces that wanted her dead. When an old frenemy claims to know the whereabouts of Elida’s long-lost mother, she is forced to return to her former kingdom and stage a rescue.

Eisner and GLAAD Media Award-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio brings her signature blend of wit, heart, and genre deconstruction to this space opera adventure. Artist Jason Smith delivers dynamic, expressive artwork that perfectly captures Elida’s snarky attitude and the cosmic absurdity of her situation. Colorist Harry Saxon and letterer Zakk Saam round out the creative team with vibrant colors and clean, readable typography.

If Star Wars was directed by the Coen brothers, you’d have Vagrant Queen. Vault Comics called it “Star Wars if Princess Leia was the main character,” and that’s an apt comparison—except Elida is even more irreverent, self-destructive, and determined to burn her own legend to the ground.

The comic spawned a Syfy television series in 2020, starring Adriyan Rae as Elida, Tim Rozon as Isaac, and Alex McGregor as Amae. The 10-episode first season brought Elida’s galaxy-spanning adventure to live-action audiences, though the series was cancelled after one season.
