Jock

Born in Glasgow and now working from Devon, England, Jock began his professional career at the legendary British comics magazine 2000 AD, drawing Judge Dredd and co-creating Lenny Zero with writer Andy Diggle. The pair brought their gritty, kinetic sensibility to the American market with The Losers at DC/Vertigo — an Eisner-nominated series later adapted into a feature film — and Green Arrow: Year One, a definitive origin story that remains a fan favorite.

Jock reached a wider audience with his work on Batman: the celebrated Batman: The Black Mirror with Scott Snyder, widely considered one of the best Batman stories of the modern era, and the award-winning horror series Wytches with Snyder at Image Comics. He has also written and drawn his own stories — including Batman: One Dark Knight and the sci-fi epic GONE — and contributed cover art to countless titles from Scalped to Savage Wolverine to Absolute Batman. Beyond comics, Jock is one of the film industry’s most sought-after concept artists, producing key art and design for Dredd, Ex Machina, Annihilation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Batman Begins, and more.

In 2021, Jock teamed with Jeff Lemire for the first time on Snow Angels, handling both art and colors with a striking shift from his usual shadows to a blinding palette of ice and snow. The series took home the 2022 Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic, and its oversized Library Edition collection from Dark Horse Comics showcases his frozen wasteland at full scale.
