Jonathan Hedrick

Multi-published indie comic writer based in Italy

Jonathan Hedrick is a multi-published independent comic book writer who has been making waves in the indie comic scene for years. Originally from Brevard County, Florida, he now lives in Italy where he continues to create compelling stories across multiple genres.

His creator-owned titles showcase remarkable diversity. The Recount explores political thriller territory, Space Cadet takes readers on sci-fi adventures, while Hyper/Aware and Caffeinated Hearts offer unique takes on slice-of-life and cyberpunk themes. His superhero work includes Capable, which asked the thought-provoking question: “What if people with disabilities gained powers OPPOSITE of their impairment?” This series earned praise from The House of Nerd Show.

Jonathan has contributed to several notable anthologies, including Lower Your Sights from Mad Cave Studios, which raised support for children impacted by the war in Ukraine and earned a Ringo Award nomination. He also writes Dream Master for BlackBox Comics, a Sandman-esque series about a forgotten paladin who protects us from nightmares.

His Orange Cone Productions work includes Holiday Spirits, Cthulhu Invades Oz, and Broke Down In Canon City, collaborating with fellow creators in the anthology space. His latest titles, Can I Scream? (Keenspot) and Quicksand (Scout Comics), are available at your local comic shop.

Active in the horror writing community, Jonathan is a member of the Horror Writers Association. He regularly engages with fans through his Substack newsletter and maintains an active presence on social media. When not writing comics, he collaborates with his wife, fellow comic book creator and artist Francesca Fantini.
