Nicolás Daniel Selma
Argentine penciller and animation veteran who drew Tomb Raider: The Beginning and the early issues of the 2014 series.
Nicolás Daniel Selma spent a decade in feature animation for Argentina and Mexico—working on productions like Una película de Huevos and El Arca—before Dark Horse opened a door in 2012 that turned him into one of the pencillers rebooting Lara Croft for comics.
The Buenos Aires-born artist made his mark immediately. He penciled Tomb Raider: The Beginning (2013), the prequel scripted by game writer Rhianna Pratchett, then drew the early issues of the monthly Tomb Raider series, penciling #1–7 and #11–12 across the storylines of Gail Simone and Pratchett, with inks by Juan Gedeon and colors by Michael Atiyeh. His clean, expressive figure work gave Lara a grounded, athletic grace that carried the survival-horror tone of the scripts, and his pages—alongside those of Andrea Mutti and Derlis Santacruz—anchor the Tomb Raider Omnibus Volume 1.
Selma also co-created S.H.O.O.T. First with writer Justin Aclin at Dark Horse, handling interiors and covers for the supernatural action mini-series about a covert kill squad taking aim at the paranormal. A longtime animation professional, he has continued to move between the two industries.
