Wasted Space

A disgraced prophet must save the galaxy he ruined—all while trying to drink himself into oblivion with his robot buddy Dust.

📖 Vault Comics • Started 2018

Billy Bane used to hear the voice of the Creator, and that didn’t work out so great. OK, if we’re being honest, he led the galaxy to total ruin. Now all he wants is to waste away in the darkest corner of space with his best pal Dust, a supercharged Fuq bot who provides the sarcastic commentary that Billy deserves. But when a new prophet comes calling, summoning Billy to save the galaxy he’s at least partially responsible for destroying, our reluctant hero couldn’t care less—at least that’s what he’ll tell you while nursing his third whiskey.

Writer Michael Moreci (Roche Limit, Wonder Woman, Black Star Renegades) and artist Hayden Sherman (The Few, Cold War, John Carter: The End) have thrown Philip K. Dick in a blender with Preacher. The result is a gritty, spacefaring adventure fueled by warring gurus, battling mercenaries, and one drunken, has-been drifter who accidentally started an apocalypse. Volume 1 collects issues #1-5 and runs 144 pages of full-color madness.

Perfect for fans of irreverent sci-fi comedies like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or the cinematic chaos of Guardians of the Galaxy, Wasted Space delivers equal parts humor, heart, and cosmic destruction. The series earned strong reviews, with Comic Book RoundUp noting it as “Billy Bane is a prophet who got it all wrong, and the galaxy has been burning ever since.”
