Erica Schultz
Ringo Award nominated writer, first woman to write Spawn
Erica Schultz has been working in comics for over two decades, building an impressive creator-owned portfolio alongside her editorial work. Her career began in advertising art direction before moving to Neal Adams’ Continuity Studios, where she gained experience that launched her into the world of independent comics.
She made history as the first woman to write a Spawn comic for Image Comics/Todd McFarlane Productions with Spawn: Rat City. Her creator-owned work includes Forgotten Home (comiXology Originals/Dark Horse), nominated for five Ringo Awards in 2020, and M3 with Vicente Alcázar, which won Best Comic at the 2012 Burbank International Film Festival.
Strange Tails, created with Claire Connelly, was nominated for a 2020 Ringo Award for Best Anthology. The Deadliest Bouquet, her ongoing series at Image Comics, is a murder mystery thriller featuring three sisters trained by their Nazi-hunting mother.
Beyond her own creations, Erica has written for Marvel Comics (Daredevil, Wolverine, X-23, Hallows’ Eve, Blood Hunters, Rogue), DC Comics (Hawkgirl), Dynamite Entertainment (Xena, Charmed), and 2000AD. She teaches at The Kubert School, sharing her expertise with the next generation of comic creators.
